Women from Africa living with HIV in London: a descriptive study

by J. Anderson, L. Doyal

This study explores the illness biographies and daily lives of HIV-positive African women receiving treatment in London. Self-completion questionnaires and in-depth semi-structured interviews were used. Participants differed in many respects (income, education level, legal status etc.), but their situation as migrants and their illness causes similar problems like profoundly impacting stigma, and resilience through religious belief.
