by European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control and European Monitoring Centre for Drugs

This evidence-based joint guidance by ECDC/EMCDDA identifies good public health practice for prevention and control of infectious diseases among people who inject drugs. Common blood-borne viruses in this group include HIV and hepatitis B and C. The guidance identifies 7 key interventions which, in synergistic combination, have been shown by evidence and experience to be effective in the prevention and control of infectious diseases that affect this group. A guidance in brief is also available.
