In 1999 MiraTes Europe BV introduced the first HIV home test on the market in the Netherlands. Since then the MiraTes HIV HomeTest has been sold in many pharmacies in the Netherlands and through the internet. The goal of this report is to provide contribution to the discussion about the benefits of HIV self-testing and a call for clarity in the concerning EU regulations.
