The objectives of the Universal Access Consultation are the following:

  • identify the major challenges met by countries over the past 10 years in scaling up for the Universal Access to HIV prevention, treatment, care and support;
  • identify the main issues requiring addressing in the next 10 years;
  • identify the major challenges to the Universal Access in the future (e.g. resistance, price of drugs etc.);
  • share the experience of European and Central Asia countries;
  • discuss good practice and experience and foster European cooperation;
  • identify the main issues that the region would wish the General Assembly to address at 2011 High Level Meeting on AIDS;
  • discuss challenges and opportunities of civil society in the HIV response in Europe and Central Asia;
  • provide final comments on the draft UNAIDS report on Universal Access in Europe and Central Asia as
  • preparation to the High Level Meeting on HIV/AIDS at the United Nations in New York, 8-10 June 2011
  • provide comments on the European Action Plan for HIV/AIDS 2011-2015

The consultation will gather around 200 participants from the countries of the European and Central Asian region. Participation is upon invitation. AIDS Action Europe will be present. Please contact us at office@aidsactioneurope.org if you would like us to raise any issues.
