Sex, sun, sea, and STIs: Sexually transmitted infections acquired on holiday

by K.E. Rogstad

Sexual encounters on holiday are, potentially, a major cause of morbidity. The risk is likely to be greatest in young people and sex tourists. Preventive advice should be offered to all people going on holiday but particularly those going to the developing world. Patients with genital symptoms, rashes, hepatitis, glandular fever-like illness or lymphadenopathy should have their travel history taken.
