People who are diagnosed with HIV are vulnerable. Being diagnosed with HIV has effects on self-behavior and behavior within the society. People living with HIV could feel isolated and are in need of support, given the fact that prejudice and ignorance exists regarding HIV-infections.
Results of the research about AIDS-dissidents in Russia show that lack of knowledge and contradictory information about related cases lead to antipathy towards HIV. The main strategy for working with people who are newly diagnosed with HIV is to inform them on a regular basis about HIV and AIDS. As more knowledge a person will have about different topics related to HIV/AIDS as more difficult it will be to put this person into “speechlessness”.
This poster was developed to support people living with HIV, who were recently diagnosed. It is named as “Good news for people living with HIV” and contains several parts about that people do not die because of HIV anymore, that there is effective treatment, that it is possible to live a regular life, achieving goals in sports, travelling, to study various professions, start families and to give birth to healthy babies!
The poster was developed by the Treatment Preparedness Coalition (“Коалицией по готовности к лечению”) in addition to the publication “Prevention of HIV denial: A guide for medics and activists” (Профилактика ВИЧ-отрицания: пособие для медиков и активистов).
