Member in the Spotlight:         Hepatos Rijeka

Established in 2009 Croatian Association HEPATOS RIJEKA is an independent NGO providing assistance to people living with HIV and hepatitis. Up to day, we are the only organisation in the Primorsko-goranska County, to target this group of people, their families, their social environment as well as other groups with risk behaviour.

Our biggest program is “River of Health“. The main objective of this program is HIV and hepatitis B and C prevention through fieldwork among youth and other groups most at risk –in particular people who use drugs. We inform and sensitize youth, risk groups and general public about these diseases and arrange support and help for people in need of care and their families. Also we encourage testing and treatment and make them aware of their rights.

As from 2010 we run a centre for voluntary, free and anonymous testing for HIV and hepatitis B and C with a team of professional medical counsellors and a network of trained volunteers, in collaboration with the Teaching Institute for Public Health of Primorsko-goranska County. We are proud to say that we are one of only two associations in Croatia to offer such services.
