STEERING COMMITTEE NEWS
In May 2020, AAE's SC and office were supposed to meet in Cyprus, at our member organisation AIDS Solidarity Movement, where Christos Krasidis is based. However, the Coronavirus situation blocked us from meeting in person. Thus, we organised the meeting online in 3 two-hour meetings, in June, where we could discuss about AAE's work in times of SARS-CoV-2, the development of our strategy after 2021 and how we will implement our next Member and Partner Meeting 2020.
We will keep you updated via our Newsletter. Stay tuned!
CIVIL SOCIETY FORUM ON HIV, VIRAL HEPATITIS AND TB (CSF)
We are happy to announce that the EU HIV/AIDS, viral hepatitis and tuberculosis Civil Society Forum (CSF) has been renewed for the term 2020-2022 with 61 member organisations from 28 countries including 15 international organisations.
Apart from the member organisations, the European Commission, ECDC, EMCDDA, UNAIDS and WHO as well as two parliamentarians groups, Global TB Caucus and Unite Network, have agreed to collaborate.
REGISTER NOW! HIV2020 has been reimagined as a series of 2-hour sessions that will take place via Zoom between the months of July and October 2020 in different languages: English, Spanish, French, Portugese and Russian. Please read the updated programme and join the opening session next week:
What does it take to end AIDS?
Take the Global AIDS Strategy beyond 2021 survey and share your perspectives on how to reach the global goal of ending AIDS as a public health threat by 2030 as part of the Sustainable Development Goals. The survey will close on 5th July 2020.
Constitutional referendum in Russia: A recently published video incites hatred towards same-sex families in Russia, stirring up fears about the adoption of children by gay couples. The referendum vote is taking place now, started on June 25, until July 1, 2020.
Public health measures in times of pandemics must always be human rights-based. We are observing with growing concern that some of the measures introduced during the current SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19 outbreak lack all the principles of human rights-based public health measures.
The AIDS Action Europe Clearinghouse is an online platform where NGOs, policy makers, networks and other stakeholders in Europe and Central Asia can share key documents and good practice materials. Check out more materials at hivaidsclearinghouse.eu
