Political leadership and strong language on TRIPS flexibilities more important than ever
An open letter signed by 53 national, European and international civil society organizations was sent to the President of the European Union Ursula von der Leyen and the German Chancellor Angela Merkel. The letter includes requests regarding the ongoing negotiations at the United Nations General Assembly on the 2021 Political Declaration on HIV and AIDS. In light of the current global health emergency situation, it highlights the importance of the Trips flexibilities, global solidarity and political leadership.
The letter is still open for support until the UN High Level Meeting on HIV/AIDS to be held on 8-10 June 2021.
