Guidelines for: 1. Outreach work with sex workers in Serbia 2.STI among male and female sex workers
During implementation of the projects targeting sex workers and their pimps, it was established and maintained highly competent team for work on the field: outreach team and mobile medical unit team. Providing secure surrounding for fieldwork in the hot-spots in Belgrade considered approval from Ministry of Internal Affairs and firm collaboration with the City police department for prostitution and gamble. This specific type of collaboration implies that role of the NGO team during implementation of HR project and role of the police on the field must be explicit to the extreme, and that relates to both sides. Satisfactory cooperation was achieved trough: - Formal education: trainings for the police officers involving them in public health problems and acquiring their understanding of field work on the subject of health issues - Three Round table meetings on the subject of: HIV prevention among vulnerable groups of population – sexual workers, Legalization of sex work – pro et contra and final Intervention programmes – risks and possibilities - Informal educational meetings with the chief of the City department for prostitution and gamble and his team in order to focus and preserve adequate attention of the police to the project goals
