The NGO partnership on HIV and AIDS in Europe and Central Asia

 

AIDS Action Europe was established in 2004 and has grown to be one of the largest HIV-related networks in the region. Our network reaches beyond the borders of the European Union and covers all 53 countries in Europe and Central Asia.

Members of our network comprise a diversity of about 300 NGOs, national networks, AIDS service organisations, activists and community based groups of people living with HIV.

AIDS Action Europe Steering Committee

AIDS Action Europe is governed by a Steering Committee. The committee is composed by 12 individuals from AIDS Action Europe member organisations and is balanced in terms of geographic representation, gender, HIV status as well as thematic expertise.

It acts as the governing body of AIDS Action Europe on all programmatic issues concerning:

  • policy   
  • strategy
  • finances
  • staff & contracts
  • monitoring and evaluation

AIDS Action Europe office

The AIDS Action Europe office is based in Amsterdam and is responsible for the overall network management of AIDS Action Europe. As co-chair of the HIV/AIDS Civil Society Forum and member of the  HIV/AIDS Think Tank, advocacy is one of the core activities. The network's linking and learning activities are also coordinated by this office. This includes the content management of the website and the clearinghouse.

European Partner of ICASO

As regional office of the International Council of AIDS Service Organizations (ICASO), AIDS Action Europe is part of ICASO's mission to mobilize and support diverse community organizations to build an effective global response to HIV and AIDS. This is done within a vision of a world where people living with and affected by HIV and AIDS can enjoy life free from stigma, discrimination, and persecution, and have access to prevention, treatment and care.
