Toolkit for MSM Checkpoints

by EURO HIV EDAT project, Matthias Kuske
Toolkit-Mainpage

A Working Group of Checkpoints from all over Europe developed an interactive Toolkit for community-based, voluntary counselling and testing (CBVCT) services targeting men who have sex with men (MSM). This Toolkit is part of the Euro HIV EDAT (Early HIV Diagnosis And Testing in Europe, www.eurohivedat.eu) project, funded by the 2008-13 Health Programme from European Commission.
It supports projects that recently started, plan to start or are running a Community Based Voluntary Counseling and Testing (CBVCT) project and/or Checkpoint for gay men and other men that have sex with men (MSM). Checkpoints, by our definition, are CBVCT and health centres that specifically address MSM. There is a great variety of Checkpoints in Europe (see Map of Checkpoints in Europe).
The Toolkit addresses all topics needed to develop, implement, and self-evaluate quality services in a CBVCT project and/or Checkpoint. It is not written for any specific health system or environment. It can be adapted to small as well as bigger projects.
The Toolkit is divided into six sections: Operating Environment, CBVCT Services and Organisational Needs, Counselling and Linkage to Care, Communication, Advocacy, and Quality Improvement/Innovation. In all sections, ‘checklists’ support users to assess their project and develop an individual action plan.
The Toolkit is published in English, French, Spanish, Catalan, Slovenian, German, Portuguese, Romanian and Russian on www.eurohivedat.eu and www.msm-checkpoints.eu
