During the second year several trainings have taken place in focus countries (Latvia, Lithuania Hungary, Czech Republic and Poland) and training materials have either been published or are in preparation. A remarkable step was taken in Latvia as the mobile unit for testing and needle exchange started to operate. Czech Republic launched a pilot for distributing condoms in a prison in Prague. A set of best practices to reduce drug-related harm in prison settings in Poland and Czech Republic has been published. Manuals for rapid testing of HIV and hepatitis C for Latvia and Hungary are being drafted. Protocols have been designed for monitoring harm reduction services and conducting national estimates about the number of people who inject drugs (PWID). An achievement worth noticing is that the Polish prison administration has decided on opioid substitution treatment (OST) to all prisoners in need.
